Collection

The United Library 's collection of over 300,000 volumes and 1,800 periodicals is rich in biblical studies, patristics, Christian art, ancient Near Eastern studies, archaeology, church history, American denominationalism, pietism, Christian education, African-American theological studies, women's studies, Anglicana and Methodistica. A complete search of the collection will require use of both the card catalog and NUCAT.

Items in Special Collections may be used only in the Library between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please make your request for any Special Collection material, including those marked T.R.or Safe, directly to Newland Smith or UL Reference Staff.

The Card Catalog and NUCAT:

All books and periodicals in the United Library may be found in one of two catalogs: the online catalog (NUCAT) available through the computer terminals, and the card catalog at Garrett-Evangelical.

 United Library materials listed in NUCAT include:

• Books acquired and cataloged since 1977.
• Books acquired before 1977 whose records have required cataloging attention since 1977
• All current periodicals held by the United Library and some periodicals no longer published or received.
• Library Materials currently on order or in process. Requests to have "in process" materials brought up for browsing or rushed for circulation may be made at the circulation desk at either Garrett-Evangelical or Seabury-Western.
